Traveling the globe and delivering a quality product on time, anytime, anywhere is our mission. Taking care of that globe along our way is of equal priority here at Kalitta Air. While we start the transition to more efficient aircraft, there are many large and small steps we have taken to reduce our carbon foot print and be apart of the move to a more sustainable, green world.
We have a recycling program for our 747 aircraft that involves scrapping and disassembling of our retired aircraft and re-purposing their parts as spare parts or scrap. We also recycle our oils and maintenance rags on a regular basis. Our parts washes also use a recycle/reuse system.
Kalitta Air has been transitioning to the use of SAF, which are fuels that can be made from vegetable oils, sugars, animal fats and waste biomass. It is mixed with conventional jet fuel and can be used with aircraft engines without equipment modifications.
As we grow our fleet, we are moving in the direction of more efficient aircraft. This means moving away from the 747-400 and upgrading to the more fuel efficient 777.
